Primary School Maths
Our Primary 3 Maths curriculum revisits and strengthens the concepts taught in Primary 1 and 2, while also introducing important problem-solving techniques to get your child ready for the year-end assessments. They will also explore heuristics like complex model drawing, which will help them formulate hypotheses and rephrase problems to tackle word problems effectively. This process will enhance their critical thinking as they engage with challenging topical issues. Moving on to Primary 4, the Maths curriculum builds on earlier topics, increasing in difficulty and encouraging students to utilize their prior knowledge and make new connections. Students will also employ heuristics such as Supposition, Forming Equations, Advanced Model Drawing, and Drawing Tables to solve word problems. In Primary 5, we focus on solidifying your child's core math skills, boosting their confidence in solving various word problems during exams. They will sharpen their logical reasoning by connecting numerical data within problem scenarios. The teacher will reinforce new concepts like part-whole relationships, units and parts, working backwards, constant difference, redistribution, and repeated identity, while also addressing emerging question trends that require logical reasoning and real-world applications. Lastly, the Primary 6 Mathematics program not only reinforces what they've learned but also introduces effective exam strategies to help your child excel under time pressure. They will learn to apply various heuristics to tackle complex word problems that span multiple topics and non-routine challenges. They will analyse and reflect on effective exam strategies to minimize errors, such as verifying answers by working backwards and logically evaluating them. Additionally, students will learn to present their solutions clearly while managing their time and stress effectively.
