Primary School Creative Writing
The journey starts from Creative Writing level 1, where students enhance their reading and writing abilities by exploring a diverse range of texts, from informative pieces to personal narratives. They will discover the elements that make a compelling story and learn essential writing techniques, such as basic character development and descriptive slow-motion. This exposure helps spark their creativity, allowing them to generate story ideas and experiment with different sentence structures based on assigned topics or images. As we progress to Creative Writing level 2, students will delve into various texts, including non-fiction and personal stories, while learning to recognize organizational patterns like chronological order, comparisons, and topic sentences. This experience enables them to develop thematic story concepts and craft well-structured narratives with engaging arcs, utilizing advanced techniques such as character development and slow-motion description. They will also practice employing diverse sentence structures and selecting appropriate vocabulary in their writing. Additionally, students will learn to outline their stories in a logical sequence, generating ideas that align with specific themes or visuals. They will work on creating captivating stories with clear organisation and thoughtful application of writing techniques, including flashbacks, foreshadowing, plot twists, and hooks. Familiarity with situational writing will also be part of their learning, equipping them to handle various text formats like emails, letters, and reports. Finally in Creative Writing level 3, students will continue to plan their stories in a logical and sequential manner, generating ideas that connect to the assigned themes or visuals. They will focus on crafting engaging narratives with a solid structure and the thoughtful use of writing techniques, such as flashbacks, foreshadowing, plot twists, and character development. They will also learn to identify gaps in logic and refine their writing for better clarity. By becoming adept at situational writing, students will be prepared to tackle different text types, including emails, letters, and reports.
